ABOUT EVENT
India is witnessing a transition from an emerging to a developed digital economy. The size of the digital economy in India is estimated to grow from $ 200 billion in 2017-18 to a staggering $ 1 trillion by 2025. With over a billion mobile phones and more than 700 million internet subscribers, India has also witnessed an exponential growth in digital-commerce, digital entertainment and use of social media. India’s mobile data consumption is already the highest in the world and is constantly increasing. This has increased the demand for data centers.
E-governance, digitalization and data localization have accelerated the growth of data centers in India. This augurs well for the country and now there is a growing need to introduce green concepts to optimize resource efficiency and demonstrate global competency in data centers and IT/ITES enabled services. IGBC Developed Green Data Center rating system in 2016 to introduce sustainability in Data Center projects. Since then, IGBC is facilitating data centers to adopt green concepts and also helping stakeholders in capacity development.
To keep the movement ahead, CII-IGBC and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) – DOE USA have jointly started an initiative in 2018 for “Enhanced Energy Efficiency in Indian Data Centers”. The key objective of the initiative is to develop and facilitate the implementation of policies and programmes at National level to reduce energy demand in data centers.
Owing to rapid advancement in technologies and solution available for data centers, there is a pressing need to support data center stakeholders to augment latest and emerging solutions and also get equipped for challenging norms. The solutions which are new and not yet tried & tested by Indian data centers could facilitate DC projects to reduce significant energy demand, however, this requires a distinct platform for knowledge dissemination and to have business networking for better penetration of services.
IGBC’s Data Center Summit (DCS) 2020 held on 10 & 11 Dec 2020 at CII Hive – Virtual Platform evoked grand response from the delegates, sponsors, exhibitors and other stakeholders from India & abroad. DCS 2020 has provided an excellent platform to network, learn and explore new business opportunities for all the participants across the globe.
Against this backdrop, CII-IGBC is organizing 2nd edition of Data Center Summit (DCS) 2021 from 28 – 30 July 2021 at CII Hive - Virtual Platform.
