ABOUT EVENT

To promote self-reliance in defence production, the Government of India has announced several measures under Atma Nirbhar Abhiyan, which has opened up a range of opportunities across the entire spectrum of Indian Industries to enter into the supply chain of defence establishments.

The Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) in partnership with the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME), Indian Army is organising a Digital Seminar-cum-Exhibition on Opportunities for Indigenisation in Army Base Workshops from 29 June – 01 July 2020 to take forward the `Make in India’ Initiative of the Government of India.

The Corps of EME provides engineering support for all equipment and armaments held with the Indian Army. The Nodal Repair Centres and Technology Centres in the Corps Zone Workshops help in engineering support management, maintaining high reliability and availability of equipment to the Field Army. The Army Base Workshops forming the fourth echelon of repair, undertake equipment overhaul and manufacture of critical spares, supported by a vast network of Industries spread over the country and abroad for realising supplies of spares and components. Spares and Components of foreign origin have long supply cycles and are heavy on cost. Under the `Make in India’ initiative, EME has embarked on a mission to indigenise these with the help of Indian Industry to cut on cost and time for repair.

The three-day virtual seminar will deliberate upon Indigenisation requirements pertaining to:

  • Armoured Vehicles
  • Communication Equipment’s
  • Radars
  • Optoelectronics
  • Rubber Items
  • Armament Spares
  • Special Vehicles
  • Engineering Equipment’s
  • Army Air Defence Weapon Systems.

Each session will be followed by Exclusive B2G Web Based interactive sessions with the project officers of the Army Base Workshops.
