ood is the true essence of life, from being a basic necessity to being the ultimate luxury of life. It forms the bedrock of our culture and society. The food sector is still the highest employment generation avenue for most of our population. Our bountiful natural resources, farmers, fishermen, shepherds have sustained us for centuries but over the last few decades, our growing population, rapid urbanization, reduced size of land holdings and global competition have all presented new set of challenges and opportunities alike. We live in a society today, where there is surplus production and yet our country is still home to a large number of undernourished souls. We lose a large portion of our produce to wastage and our farmers still do not get the fair share of the value from what they produce. Therefore, it is necessary to take active and immediate measures to help preserve our food and create value for all sections of the society. 

The food processing industry (FPI) is always of enormous significance as it provides vital linkages and synergies among all the sectors of the economy viz. Primary (agriculture), Secondary (industry) and Tertiary (Transportation of goods, R & D in Agro processing). Food processing provides an opportunity to utilize excess production efficiently. Not just from an agricultural growth perspective, but it is also important for reducing food wastage as it increases shelf life and enhances quality. Thus, food processing has become an integral part of the food supply chain in the global economy and India has also seen growth in this sector in the last few years. 

With the objective of giving impetus to in this vital sector, CII Telangana in association with Telangana State Food Processing Society, Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Telangana, is organizing the 1st edition of its flagship event: TS-FOODBIZ 2021 an international Conference & Exhibition through virtual mode (CII-HIVE platform) during 27 – 28 August 2021. Exhibition through virtual mode (CII-HIVE platform) during 27 August - 26 September 2021.

Mr K T Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister for IT E & C, Industries, MA & UD Govt. of Telangana has been requested to inaugurate the exhibition and also to deliver his inaugural address at the inaugural session along with the Launch of Govt. of Telangana Food Processing Policy, Logistics Policy & Oil Farms Policy.
