As one of the fastest growing markets, India continues to be extremely relevant to the global medical technologies space, not just from a domestic market’s point of view, but also globally as a potential hub for manufacturing and innovation in Medical Equipment, Devices and Diagnostics.
The Indian Medical Technology industry along with the Government has taken impressive strides domestically in the last decade and has been instrumental in the growth of healthcare coverage in India. With various policy changes and technological advancements, a positive sentiment has been created with in the industry. The pandemic has also ushered in a sense of urgency on the need for making available, good quality, affordable medical devices and diagnostics to the Indian population. In order to overcome the hurdles that lie in India’s path on its way to realize full potential, the need of the hour is to identify the importance of encouraging penetration of medical devices throughout the country and the role of the industry in shaping universal healthcare for India.
With this background, the Confederation of India Industry (CII) National Medical Technology Forum (NMTF) is happy and proud to announce that the 13th CII GLOBAL MEDTECH SUMMIT “Revamp and Re-invigorate the Sunrise Medical Devices Sector in India” is being organized on 2- 3 September, 2021. This annual flagship event of the sector brings together participants from Government, Medical Technology industry and health fraternity.
Aligned to its theme, the Summit will deliberate and discuss the key actions required by all stakeholders to revamp and re-energise the sector in terms of access and demand. Several favourable initiatives and positive measures have been taken by the Government recently with schemes like the Ayushman Bharat – PMJAY and the Medical Device Production – Linked Incentive Schemes and development of Medical Device Parks, all of which are aimed at fast-tracking indigenous production and also indirectly enhancing the per capita usage of medtech in the country. Now is the time to re-focus and make the right tweaks and alterations in the National Medical Device Policy environment such that the sector sees greater glory and contributes meaningfully to Healthcare for All in India.
